Our Values
Anna Antal recognises that the fashion industry is intrinsically linked to nature through its use of raw materials, relying on industries like agriculture, mining and forestry.
We have made a commitment to implement sustainability as a core principal in the day-to-day operations of our business. We are constantly challenging the way we create our products and run our operations and while we are far from perfect, we believe we can deliver the changes necessary for a more sustainable future.
Consumers are the ultimate creators of change. We reject the notion of fast fashion and instead design with integrity, creating luxury pieces that are designed to be treasured for generations. Anna Antal designs are thoughtfully sourced from the highest quality fabrications and materials. We partner with highly skilled artisans, celebrating craftsmanship and originality in each of our designs.
Our textiles are selected based upon their quality, texture and wearability. We are regularly looking for opportunities to use fabric and materials from sustainable sources and strive to reduce, recycle and reuse across all aspects of our business. While some waste is inevitable, we do out best to minimise it across our production processes. Producing locally enables us to produce our garments in limited quantities, avoiding excess waste and our off-cuts are repurposed or donated to other local businesses and manufacturers.
We care deeply about the environment and as such, prioritise processes that help protect it. Our original prints form the foundation of our business and we choose to digitally print our designs as opposed to having them screen printed. Typically, water usage for screen printing is around 50-60 litres per meter, while digital printing can use less than two litres.
As a business committed to manufacturing locally, it is imperative we understand our obligations. We are committed to building respectful, mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships with our factories and other suppliers, based on the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. We have strict requirements on health and safety, human rights and fair, lawful and respectful treatment of workers in supplier factories. Our garments are produced locally in Melbourne by a family-run, accredited factory. Our garment makers are paid fairly and work contently in a safe and comfortable environment.
We truly care about the world we live in and believe everyone has a responsibility to protect the future of our planet. As part of our commitment, we are proud to partner with 1% For The Planet, donating 1% of our annual sales to preserving the environment. Since it’s inception, 1% For The Planet has helped direct hundreds of millions of dollars to approved environmental not-for-profit organisations around the world who are working together toward protecting the future of our planet.
